The opening up of the kitchen to allow circulation and the participation of multiple cooks and dinner guests is apparent. The ceiling is covered in a vinyl wallpaper that looks like tin ceilings of old. The shelves next to the refrigerator are a convenient place for storing cook books and adding color to the room. Just visible to the right is a stained and leaded glass window that was relocated to the door going into the back porch. Also highlighted is the newly refinished oak floor, in a warm red-tone finish.
